The New Jersey Center for Public Health Preparedness at UMDNJ

The New Jersey Center for Public Health Preparedness at UMDNJ, established at the UMDNJ-School of Public Health, is one of the nation’s 50 university-based Centers for Public Health Preparedness. Funding is provided by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), with administrative support from the Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH). The NJCPHP works in partnership with the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.

AVIAN FLU

There are many strains of avian influenza; the one of primary concern is the influenza A virus referred to as H5N1. This virus is highly contagious in birds and is frequently fatal to them.
