At the Annual Meeting of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine in early May, 2004 in Kansas City, a team led by the Center's Michael Gochfeld conducted a half-day symposium on biological, chemical and radiological weapon preparedness targeted toward occupational physicians and nurses. In addition to presentations on the three classes of potential terrorist agents by Gochfeld, Glenn Paulson and Carl Schopfer from the Center, Nancy Fiedler from UMDNJ's Robert Wood Johnson Medical School discussed psychological and mental health preparedness issues, and Michael Allswede of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center described the preparedness activities of their 28 hospital system, and their method for analysis of personnel, equipment and supply needs.
