National Incident Management System (NIMS): An Introduction for Public Health

The Heartland Center for Public Health Preparedness developed this program to aid in the preparedness of the public health workforce to effectively respond to public health emergencies. Public health agencies, the medical workforce, and emergency responders can use this educational module to increase their knowledge of the National Incident Management System. This online module is intended to act as a reference and learning tool. Materials included in this resource were produced mainly from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

HCPHP believes that to be successful in planning for the “unthinkable”, we must continually practice, exercise, and train for the unexpected. In this way, we can better anticipate, recognize, respond, and recover from acts of terrorism or any crisis event.
