Mobile Hospital Aids Recovery: A Life-Saving Tent City

Mr. Ottaway acts as the regional public health coordinator at the Hamilton County General Health District. He has experience in Regional Disaster Preparedness and was one of the Team Leaders for the 2004-2005 Ohio Public Health Leadership Institute (OPHLI).

In the summer and fall of 2005, Mr. Ottaway followed the mobile unit to the Hurricane Katrina response effort and gained first-hand knowledge of the use of mobile tent units. Mr. Ottaway will share additional information about the Southwest Ohio Alternative Care Center and its functions during a local disaster.

After viewing this webcast, the learner will be able to explain the issue of surge capacity, identify surge capacity plans in Southwest Ohio, and understand the concept of an Alternative Care Center.
